Miami Dolphins Tickets – Marshall Set to Be Fantasy Stud in Miami
While the New York Jets get plenty of ink in the paper, the Miami Dolphins have enough talent to compete in the division and should be able to take a big step forward offensively in 2010. Here’s a look at the best fantasy players donning the teal and white this year.
Brandon Marshall, Wide Receiver:
Even though Marshall was benched for the final regular season game in 2009, he still was one of the very top receiving options in the entire league and has been all but uncoverable in his four seasons in the NFL. Because of this, Marshall will help sell loads of Miami Dolphins tickets while he’s in Miami.Marshall has averaged 1,237 yards and 102 catches over the last few years and last year had his first double-digit touchdown season. Now with Marshall teaming with rocket-armed quarterback Chad Penne, there is the making for a very good passing attack to go with a running game that has flourished the last couple seasons. The running game should also open up deep routes for Marshall and another big season certainly seems to be in the making. Marshall is a top-tier option in any league format.
Projection: 94 catches, 1,280 yards, 11 touchdowns.
Ricky Williams, Running Back:
One of the most intriguing players in the league the last couple of seasons has to be Ricky Williams. After his quasi-sabbatical a few years back, Williams’ fresh legs have made him a very productive back in the Dolphins’ wildcat offense. Ronnie Brown is still around but Williams has been the more healthy back in recent years and should continue to get the ball plenty in 2010. Coming off a season in which Williams tallied 1,121 yards, a 4.7 average and 13 combined touchdowns, Williams should be a very good number two option in most fantasy leagues. His age could be somewhat of a concern, but it hasn’t been so far.
Projection: 1,100 combined yards, nine touchdowns.
Ronnie Brown, Running Back:
It’s hard to really figure out what’s going to happen this season with Ronnie Brown. Before going down with a foot injury last season, Brown was actually having a pretty good season, but injury has been a concern for a couple of years now. It’s unclear how many more big injuries his body can take, which is why drafting him certainly comes with plenty of risk. The Dolphins should also throw the ball more in 2010, which could eat into the Brown’s stats. Still, Brown is a good back when he’s on the field and has a nose for the endzone with his downhill style of running. In the mid to late rounds, Brown could still have plenty of value.
Projection: 950 combined yards, eight touchdowns.
Chad Henne, Quarterback:
In his first full season as a starter, Henne showed some definite signs of being a solid quarterback in this league. Henne is a cerebral quarterback with a very good arm, which is a great start in the current era of the NFL. Now with Brandon Marshall stepping in as the number one wideout, Henne is about to find out what it’s like to have an unbelievable talent to throw the ball to. Though you shouldn’t take too much of a risk on Henne, I expect him to make significant strides in his third season in the league.
Projection: 3,500 yards, 22 touchdowns, 13 interceptions.
Davone Bess, Wide Receiver:
Though Bess led the team in receiving yards last year, he’s really more of a number two. Now Bess gets to play opposite Brandon Marshall, which should allow him to work underneath and rack up catches all season long. Against number two defensive backs, Bess should also be able to get free more often in the red zone and he will likely improve from a 2009 season in which he had just two touchdown catches.
Projection: 725 yards, six touchdowns.
