Top 6 Tourist Destinations In India

India is easily among the most fascinating and enchanting countries in the world. For centuries, it has captivated travelers with its air of mystification. From wild forests to cities teeming with people, India offers something to everyone.
Given the vast size of the country, it is nearly impossible to visit every important tourist destination unless you have several months of free time at your disposal. Therefore, here is a list of cities, sights, and places you must visit to get a taste of the ‘real India’.
1. New DelhiThe capital of the country is also one of its most historic cities. Located in the heart of Northern India, Delhi has been the historical capital of a number of rulers for thousands of years. Places to visit in Delhi include the Qutab Minar (the highest brick minaret in the world), Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Humayun’s Tomb, and the Old Fort.
2. BenarasBenaras is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. It is also the seat of Hindu religion and spirituality. Situated on the banks of the holy river Ganges, it is a city teeming with life. Thousands of pilgrims make way to this city every month, and you will be astounded by the sights and sounds it offers.
3. KashmirWhile it has been marred by terrorist violence in the past, Kashmir has regained its peaceful status and is roaring for tourist business again. One of the most beautiful places in the world, the Kashmir valley was called “Paradise on Earth” by the Mughal rulers. Be sure to visit the Dal Lake and take a ride aboard a ‘Shikara’ on its tranquil waters.
4. AgraAgra was the seat of Mughal power and culture and houses one of the world’s most famous landmarks – the Taj Mahal. No trip to India would be complete without one look at this magnificent monument to love. Also check out the equally impressive Red Fort made of red sandstone.
